概要
一発目の和訳はスウェーデンのパワーメタルバンド「Sabaton」の1stアルバム「Primo Victoria」より、「Primo Victoria」。
曲のテーマは第二次世界大戦（以下、WWII）において有名な「ノルマンディー上陸作戦（ネプチューン作戦またはD-デイとも、また作戦全体をさしてオーヴァーロード作戦とも）」であり、連合国側の視点で歌われている。

雑感等
Sabatonは、このアルバムをリリースする前に、デモ音源のコンピレーションアルバム「Fist for Fight」を出している。しかし、そちらは歴史などをテーマにしていない。
このアルバム「Primo Victoria」で歴史、特に戦争を中心のテーマとし、また「戦争における犠牲と、兵士たちの勇敢さ」を歌うという、今に続く「Sabatonスタイル」がすでに確立されているのが分かる。
さて、この曲についてだが、この曲はオープニングトラックであり、それだけに冒頭の歌詞の部分のインパクトが非常に強い。これは2ndアルバム「Attero Dominatus」でも同様である。
歌詞に難しい表現はそこまでない。唯一ラテン語である「Primo Victoria」についていろいろ調べ、その最中に発見したのだが、厳密に言うと文法的に間違っている...らしい（Redditより）。ラテン語に触れる機会の少ない日本人にとってはわかりづらいが、どうやらこれを英訳すると「Victory First / Victory first of all / Foremost, Victory」となって、文法的なミスに加えて意味が変わってくる模様。
そのため、本来の意味である「The First Victory」を指すためには、「Prima Victoria」が正しいらしい。...まあ、「Prima Victoria」より「Primo Victoria」の方が、曲においては力強さが出て良い気もするが。
